DR. GLENYS BIBLOW

What inspired you to become
an equine veterinarian?
I've always had a passion for horses and the medicine of the species, but I think even more than that I was inspired by the relationships that you build with their owners. I haven't found this happens to the same degree in other species and I think it's a pretty special perk to equine veterinary medicine.

What is your favourite part
of working with horses?
I love how fun it is to learn each of their personalities. They're these thousand-pound, really unique, and really intricate animals, that let us form relationships with them.

What are some of your favourite activities to do in your free time?

One of my happy places is the gym and it's become quite a staple for me. Additionally, I love being outdoors. Whether that's just spending time on a deck, in the mountains, or doing some outdoor activity (I became certified in scuba diving while I was in vet school and got to do a few shark dives). I'm also finding my love of reading again now that I don't have to constantly only read textbooks.

What is something people are surprised to learn about you?

That I hold a degree in Mechanical Engineering. It's not the most orthodox prerequisite undergraduate degree for veterinary medicine so it often takes people by surprise when they find out.
