


KAILA STEWART
Head Technologist – RVT
Kaila grew up in the Calgary area and always had a strong interest in horses, as a youngster she rode primarily english and was an active Pony Club member. At 16 Kaila rode her first cutting horse and was hooked! After many years working at a private barn in the cutting horse industry Kaila decided to attend Olds College and graduated in February 2022. Kaila was very excited to join the Energy Equine team in September 2022 as she has a deep love for performance horses. Kaila loves being a part of keeping horses happy, healthy and performing their best so they can go on to find great success with their human partners. In her spare time Kaila is most often found showing and spending time with her own horses, the best chihuahua Franklin and her crazy budgie Marjorie, as well as travelling, reading and spending time with family and friends.

SHELBY BENNETT
Tech Student Outreach Coordinator – RVT
Shelby grew up in the lower mainland of BC riding jumping and 3-Day Eventing horses. In 2012 she came out to Alberta where she began working for barrel racing and cow horse horse trainers which lead her to Olds College for a diploma in Equine Reproduction. Specializing and working for 2 large breeding facilities in Alberta lead her to pursue more education as an RVT at the Olds College. Shelby has worked with a bovine specialty practice and mixed animal practice before coming back to her true passion of Equine Veterinary Medicine with Energy Equine. When she is not working you can find her barrel racing, training her own horses, riding out west in the mountains and enjoying time with her family (husband Matt and son Wade) and their 3 dogs. Shelby has a true passion for all equine athletes; being part of their veterinary team to help owners and horses reach their goals; no matter what size.

STACY ROBERTS
RVT
Stacey Roberts graduated from Olds College in 2011 and since then has gone on to work at a variety of animal clinics. She also runs Rocky Hills Ranch, which offers western riding lessons and horse boarding in Okotoks, alongside her husband, Dusty, daughter, Sloan, and a variety of beloved animals from horses, to dogs, to even rabbits! Stacey competes in cutting horse competitions, barrel races, and can be found cheering on her daughter at gymkhana events in her spare time. She is currently with us part time at Synergy Equine on Tuesday's and Thursday's and has become an immense asset to Dr. Hewlett's team, and a friendly and approachable face for our clients.

KATE JELINSKI
RVT
Kate graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a degree in Animal Bioscience, and then continued on to Olds College to obtain her AHT diploma, graduating in February 2022. After doing her practicum with Energy Equine, she was hooked on equine sports medicine and joined the team as a full time RVT in December 2022. Kate has a particular interest in equine rehabilitation and enjoys helping patients overcome injuries and return to their performance careers. In her spare time, you can find her riding and showing her reined cow horses.

HANNAH FERGUSON
RVT
Hannah graduated from Olds College in 2013 and has worked primary with small animals but horses have always been a large part of her life. She began working for Energy Equine part time in the spring of 2021, while also working full time with a board-certified small animal surgeon at another practice. In 2023, she started with Energy Equine full-time, predominately working out of Synergy Equine. Hannah was drawn to the team spirit and dedication that Energy Equine offers to their clients and horses. She loves every aspect of maintaining a healthy and happy horse from keeping them in shape to regular maintenance. They truly are athletes! In her free time, she likes to take her horse to barrel races, go to the gym and crossfit classes.

SHAZ SIMONEAU
RVT
Shaz grew up in the Okotoks area and from an early age had a passion for horses and rodeo. She was a client at Energy Equine for many years before attending Lakeland College in Vermilion Alberta to obtain her AHT diploma, and graduated in the spring of 2023. She quickly pursued Energy Equine for a career as an RVT because she always admired the upbeat, innovative atmosphere it provides. In her spare time, you can find Shaz riding her horses, or spending time with her family and her dog!

MACKENZIE DE BOKX
RVT
Mackenzie was born in Saskatchewan and moved to Airdrie, AB at a young age. She grew up around a variety of animals, including horses, dogs, cats, rabbits... the list goes on! She has known froma young age that her career would be in veterinary medicine. Mackenzie attended the Olds College AHT program and graduated in February of 2022. Following graduation, Mackenzie has worked mostly in a mixed animal practise with her strongest interest being equine. She just recently joined the team with Energy Equine in March of 2024 and has thoroughly enjoyed working with all the amazing athletes that come through the doors, and of course, getting to know the people that accompany them! In Mackenzie’s spare time you can find her enjoying time outdoors with her family, friends, and animals.

Emma Rice
RVT
Emma Rice graduated from Olds College in June 2024 as a Registered Veterinary Technologist. She has always been involved in the horse industry, working at a boarding facility and teaching riding lessons. She started volunteering at Energy Equine in February 2022 then became a Veterinary Assistant until May 2023 before heading to tech school. In her free time Emma competes in Extreme Cowboy Racing and spends time in the mountains. She aims to expand her knowledge in equine sports medicine, anesthesia and overall veterinary care.

Mykelti Fisher
RVT
Mykelti graduated from Olds College with her diploma in Animal Health Technology in the fall of 2021. She has a strong interest in equine reproduction and prior to going to tech school completed her Equine Reproduction Technician diploma. Mykelti joined the Energy Equine team as a full time RVT in December 2024 and is most often found on the road with Dr. Travis Kelter's team, even accompanying him twice a year to the Yukon! Outside of work, Mykelti most enjoys tending to her bee hives, riding in the mountains, and caring for her herd of recipient mares and barrel prospects.

McKenzie MacIntyre
RVT
McKenzie began her career working with thoroughbred racehorses as an exercise rider and groom before transitioning into equine medicine as a veterinary assistant. She completed the Veterinary Technology program at Northwestern Polytechnic from 2023 to 2025. McKenzie joined Energy Equine in 2025 following completion of her practicum at our facility. She currently works full-time with our surgery team, as the Surgical & Hospital Ward Technician. She has a particular interest in anesthesia and hospitalized patient care, and takes pride in helping patients feel calm and comfortable during what is often a stressful time. She chose to join Energy for the opportunity to continue learning and growing in her new role as a Registered Veterinary Technologist (RVT). Outside of work, she enjoys reading and watching movies with her two tabby cats, Vanilla Bean and Sodashi.

Cassidy Thatcher
Veterinary Assitant
Cassidy started at Energy Equine mid April 2023. You’ll primarily find her at the south clinic, Synergy Equine. She grew up just south of High River and spent most of her life around animals. After graduating the Veterinary Medical Assistant program at Lakeland College in 2017 she started her career in mixed animal, then shifted to small animal surgery. In her spare time, she enjoys playing volleyball, riding horses and spending time in the mountains. Cassidy enjoys most how everyone works like a team and is always smiling at Energy Equine.

Megan Fleming
RVT
Megan Fleming, RVT grew up in Calgary, where her love of animals started at a young age — horses, in particular, captured her heart after doing pony rides at the Calgary Stampede, and she has been hooked ever since. She began her career as a Veterinary Medical Receptionist, graduating in 2005, and later went on to pursue her passion for animal care by completing the Olds College RVT program in 2009. Since then, she has worked in small animal, mixed, and equine practices, taking on a variety of roles throughout her career. Having previously worked at Energy, she decided to return in the pharmacy role because she truly enjoys the team and the supportive culture of the clinic. This position allows her to stay connected to the veterinary industry she loves - just in a different capacity. In her spare time, she loves to travel, ride and show her horse, and spend as much time outdoors as possible - whether that’s paddle boarding in the summer or cross-country skiing in the winter

Madison Heintz
RVT
RVT is from Calgary, Alberta but growing up, spent lots of time at her grandparent’s farm in High River riding horses. She has had a passion for animals, specifically horses, her whole life which drove her to pursue a career with them. She attended Lakeland College and graduated from the Animal Health Technology program in 2023. She then continued her education at Lakeland College, completing an Agribusiness diploma that she graduated from in 2025. She knew she wanted to work at Energy Equine because of the atmosphere and level of detail they put into each patient and client. Outside of work, she has a strong passion for rodeo. She competes in Pole Bending, Barrel Racing and Goat Tying on her horse, Happy. A fun fact – Happy was voted Goat Tying Horse of the Year for the 2024/2025 season at the Canadian College Rodeo Finals.
