Energy Equine Veterinary Internship Program
Energy Equine’s internship program is designed to mentor and prepare the next generation of equine veterinarians for successful, long-term careers in practice. Our intern program is overseen by Dr. Jase Skelton, DVM, MS, Diplomate ACVS (Large Animal).
Applications are due in fall for a June start, though early applications are encouraged as positions may fill in advance.

About the Program
Energy Equine is one of the largest equine practices in Western Canada, with two clinics, a team of experienced veterinarians, and dedicated support staff.
We currently select two interns per year to join us, immersing them in our practice through two-week interval rotations:
-
Sports Medicine Rotation
-
Spend two weeks primarily with Dr. Chad Hewlett, our practice owner and one of Canada’s most sought-after sports medicine-focused veterinarians.
-
-
Surgery Rotation
-
Work with Dr. Jase Skelton, DVM, MS, Diplomate ACVS (Large Animal), focusing on elective procedures while also gaining exposure to a high caseload of sports medicine cases.
-
Throughout the program, you will also rotate with our associate veterinarians to ensure comprehensive exposure across all aspects of practice.
Interns are fully integrated into the team and supported through mentorship, regular feedback, and progressive responsibility.
Interns are paired with associate veterinarians to present monthly rounds-style topics in medical meetings and monthly intern topic rounds are hosted by Dr. Skelton.
